I’m looking to choose a platform, host and software for my blog. As a newcomer to this it’s pretty bewildering, so much new jargon and hurdles in this space; and I consider myself pretty tech-savvy. If anyone want’s to give me any pointers, please feel free…

I want something professional looking, safe and secure - and easy to use. I’ve been looking at WordPress, Moveable Type (including TypePad) and dasBlog (since my natural bias is towards .NET). They all seem pretty good, so that’s why I’m here, trying them out.

That’s it for now - I have a lot more to look into; things I keep seeing around but really don’t know what they mean, like pingbacks, RSS, ATOM, bookmarks, permalinks, etc…
